Burpee’s + Digital Detox = #FITWEEK

Ouuuu baby… this week’s #FitWeek is a good one!!!

By the time you read this post I will have been on a Digital Detox for 2.5 days and I hope feeling amazing.  I have written this post in advance and set it to auto-publish for Sunday night at 6pm.  This whole detox thing is something I think we could all use a little in our lives.  The days can pass so fast and sometimes go by without us doing or appreciating just the little things around us.   There’s Universities that do this with their students and even retreats that you can go on for the week or weekend and have a “Digital Detox” Google it and see for your self.

So I have decided to add it into this week’s #FitWeek Challenge an HOUR Digital Detox a day. Now this doesn’t mean just shut everything down at a time you wouldn’t be using it ie: work, dinner, sleep etc.   This means actually turn all your digital equipment off during your peek times.  Maybe you creep Facebook every night before bed, after work or school.  You could be a Pinterest addict, Tumblr or YouTube surfer, whatever your computer vice is shut it down at your peek times for just one hour!

That phone… ya the one next to you right now…attached to your hip.  TURN it off too for one hour, big deal.  We all have answering machines right?   So you can check them in an hour and same goes for your texts.  This will be the hardest, I know but you can do it and after the first day or so I bet you will actually get excited about your POWER HOUR!!! You can get lots of things done or do nothing at all. As long as you get those 40 Perfect Burpee’s in at some point of your day!! haha

Here’s a few things you can do if your feeling completely lost:

  • read a book
  • cuddling on the couch
  • playing a board game
  • going for a walk
  • playing with the dog
  • colouring with the kids
  • visiting friends
  • cooking a gourmet meal
  • painting
  • tickling your loved ones
  • making out
  • bubble bath
  • re-arranging furniture
  • writing goals down
  • preparing tax files (instead of cramming the night before you see your tax lady)
  • just sit and do nothing
  • wrestle on the ground
  • Just BE!!!

Haha the list could go on here, you get what I mean.,.. enjoy the little things and YOUR BURPEE’s too.

OK so A LOT of you hate Burpee’s… what’s the big deal with them anyways??  I love em’ , training them and doing them, they are a full body movement that gets your heart rate going, legs, arms and core burning all while jumping up and down in the air.  It’s an amazing movement our body can make and you should look at it this way… At least you can do it, you have legs and arms that can do what you want and what you need them to do.  So when you do these burpee’s do them with rejoice, be proud and thankful that you have the ability to do them.  Cause I bet for those who can’t walk or even stand would be dying to do even just one Burpee!!
